BGC Yarmouth has been offering childcare for 56 Years

Our Centres are licensed facilities, inspected annually by the province of Nova Scotia. We follow the regulations set out in the Nova Scotia Day Care Act and Regulations, which are monitored by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development. Our staff is highly qualified and experienced and all staff are trained in First Aid. We offer safe, clean environments where your child can have fun experiences and learn new skills each day.

The children are given 2 snacks and 1 lunch per day based on the Manual for Food and Nutrition in Regulated Childcare Settings. We follow a high quality program which follows Nova Scotia’s Early Learning Curriculum Framework, Capable, Confident and Curious. Our centers are all focused on play-based learning with emphasis that the children are the leaders and the teachers are the facilitators. Planning is done around the children’s interests and the teachers provide the materials and activities to enhance their learning.

Bond Street – Full Day Childcare

This site is a full day childcare centre. We offer full and part time spaces from ages 3 months to 5 years. Children follow a daily routine that is designed to keep children happy and engaged. Our routines are specific for each age group. Younger children require an individualized schedule whereas toddlers and preschooler can adjust to a group schedule. We have consistent times for breakfast, circle time, snack, outdoor time, lunch, nap, fun activities and free play. Developing a routine for each step helps children learn the patterns of the day and helps them to feel secure when they know what to expect.

Pleasant Street – Full Day Childcare

This centre is located at the NSCC Burridge Campus and is considered the Lab School for the Early Childhood Education course. Preference for childcare is given to staff and students of Burridge Campus. This site is a full day childcare centre. We offer full and part time spaces from ages 3 months to 5 years. Before and After School Programs

We currently have Before and After School Programs at:
– Yarmouth Elementary School
– Plymouth School
– Meadowfields Consolidated School
– Port Maitland Consolidated Elementary School

We offer before and after school programs for children in pre-primary to Grade 5. We offer no program on CLT days and Inservices at these locations, as well as Storm Days and all Holidays.

Our program is guided by the key pillars of Nova Scotia’s Let’s Get Moving Action Plan- an outdoor play, movement and physical literacy-based framework. Our focus is to get children moving while focusing on their interests. An afternoon snack is provided at all service locations.

Inservice Day Program

We offer a pre-register pre-pay Inservice program for children running out of our BGC Yarmouth Centennial location.

Necessary Information:

Hours of Operation: 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Meals: Morning & Afternoon Snacks
Hot Lunch
Cost: $27.00 for the day

Summer Day Camp

Summer Day Camp

Our Summer Day camp offers youngsters a chance to participate in a wide variety of sports and activities, make new friends, and participate in unique experiences and adventures. They will build self-esteem, develop interpersonal skills, and make lasting memories. Children often engage in outings in the community and fun filled water days. This program is for children ages 4 to 12 and is an unlicensed program that is run by summer students. Subsidy is not available for this program.

Registration opens for those already enrolled in our programs on May 13th, 2024.

Registration opens to the general public on May 27th, 2024.
